Currently, I am an Assistant Professor and the Head of Discovery and User Experience at Indiana University Bloomington Libraries. I manage user research for IU Bloomington Libraries and my department is product owner of IUB’s Springshare applications (LibGuides, LibCal, etc.), the library website, IUCAT, and IUB’s discovery tool, OneSearch@IU (EBSCO Discovery Service).

My recent interests are in website management, measuring the impact of user experience, service design, and equity in professional development.

In June 2020, I became the project director of CADRE. CADRE (Collaborative Archive and Data Research Environment) is a cloud-based “science gateway to standardized text- and data-mining services for large datasets”. Funded by IMLS, CADRE seeks to provide libraries with a sustainable and affordable platform for researchers to share and analyze large scale bibliometric data.

Before coming to Indiana University, I was Web Services Librarian at the University of Montana, Missoula. In addition to leading web services, I led usability testing, chaired the Web Committee, did information literacy instruction and curriculum planning for the information and research division, participated in outreach and communications initiatives, and did research in the areas of usability testing, user experience, metaliteracy, and content strategy headshot_umdirectory.

Previously, I was Assistant Visiting Professor of Information and Library Studies at Luther College in Decorah, IA where I did extensive first-year information literacy instruction, led usability testing, and served as liaison and collection development lead for the English, music, physics, chemistry, and computer science departments.

My MSLS is from UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Library and Information Sciences. At UNC, I was a Carolina Academic Library Associate and worked in the Music Library and Music Cataloging departments. I also interned in the Assessment and User Experience Department at Duke University Libraries.  My work there culminated in my thesis, “Low-Hanging Fruit and Pain Points: An Analysis of Change Implementation from Flash Usability Testing at Duke University Libraries”.

My BA is in English (with a minor in cello performance) from Luther College in Decorah, IA.
